It is important to win the crowd over and get them on your side. Not everyone can do this effectively. Greatness takes time, dedication, and practice. The best in showbiz don't become famous overnight.

Russell Peters is one of the greats. He belongs in the best standup comedians conversation. You see Russell engages in risky behaviors and his audience loves him for that.

This comic will make fun of anybody. Hell, he'll even make fun of himself. When you're not afraid to tell jokes, you sell out crowds easier. Moreover, he tackles challenging subjects in a sarcastic manner.

Born in Toronto Canada, he qualifies as one of the funniest Canadians. Plus, his Indian background contributes a great deal to his material. You could compare him to Aziz Ansari but there is only one Russell Peters. Make no mistake, his style and delivery are unmistakeable.

Everyone must know the importance of timing in standup comedy. Russell Peters delivers like Amazon, right on time. Right now is Russell Peters time to shine. The celebrity is singing You Are My Sunshine on his way to the bank. He has a lot to be happy about.

The 46-year-old is one of the highest paid comedians according to Forbes. He makes $21 million per year. That's almost as much as LeBron James' take home pay. I highly recommend watching his Almost Famous standup special. And I look forward to seeing his future work.

Keira Knightley is one of my favorite actresses. I believe she is the best British entertainer right now. Moreover, her qualities as an actor are perfect. At 31, who has accomplished as much as this Hollywood star?

She poetically portrays characters on the silver screen. Also, nothing gets in the way of her delivering top notch results. Keira Knightley is known for superior performances. The Hollywood actress is laser focused in her films. You can easily see how her hard work pays dividends.

In my mind, Keira Knightley should sit next to Julia Roberts at the Academy Awards. Why don't I arrange the Oscars seating charts with Keira Knightley's Name between Roberts and mine?; that's just a suggestion. Like Brie Larson, she's one of the best actresses in showbiz. The red carpet was made for her footprints.

This phenomenal actress is one of the reasons I recommend Collateral Beauty. She helps bring the story to life as her character pulls off an amazing performance. I literally love Keira Knightley, who plays the abstract Love, in Collateral Beauty.

Additionally, she steals the spotlight from Benedict Cumberbatch in the Imitation Game. The wonderful thespian convinces the audience that her character, a cryptanalyst, helps save the world from destruction. Did you know that the movie is based on a true story?

I can't get enough of Priyanka Chopra. The Quantico star is someone to write home about. Isn't she something special? This former Miss World may be the hottest babe on TV.

I hope they give Priyanka a pay raise because she's too good to lose. Moreover, the actor is the main reason we watch Quantico, right? Let's face it, Chopra presents a hot body of work like Sofia Vergara. TV viewers are treated to one of a kind good looks.

Still, if you go beyond her charming good looks, you'll discover she's extremely talented too. She's already made a name for herself in Bollywood. Right now, she's taking her turn on Hollywood Boulevard.

Are you looking forward to watching her performance in Baywatch or what? Picture Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron both vying for her attention on the silver screen. Did you watch the Golden Globes? The Golden Globe Awards are a precursor to the Oscars. Tonight's award show was watched by approximately 20 million people. Maybe, you saw the red carpet as well.

Jimmy Fallon made a grand entrance. But the night began with Aaron Taylor-Johnson winning Best Supporting Actor for Nocturnal Nights. Later, Billy Bob Thornton gave an emotional speech.

Then, Tracee Ellis Ross graced the stage winning for Blackish. Atlanta starring Donald Glover earned the award for Best TV series. And Hacksaw Ridge received top recognition. Additionally, Sarah Paulson earned her award for the People V. O.J. Simpson.

You couldn't have asked for better presenters than Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Gina Rodriguez represented for the Latina women. Do you watch Jane the Virgin? Viola Davis received hard earned credit for her performance in Fences.

How could you miss the amazingly stunning Sofia Vergara on stage in her see through dress? Give credit to Carrie Underwood and Sting too. Moreover, Ryan Gosling's and Emma Stone's La la Land was given major accolades. Did Ryan Gosling give a nice acceptance speech or what?

Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer shared the stage but Hawn hogged the microphone. Tom Hiddleston scored big for the Night Manager. Claire Foy won on a large scale for the Crown. It was great seeing Casey Affleck win Best Actor for Manchester by the Sea.

Finally, Brad Pitt introduced Moonlight, which was nominated for 6 Golden Globes. Moonlight deservingly won for the best drama category. However, the spotlight shined brightest on Meryl Streep. It was definitely Meryl's moment.

Everybody did a fantastic job. It was a wonderful show. There was a ton of glitz and glamor beginning on the red carpet. They arrived in spectacular fashion inside stretch limousines. The biggest stars showed up, although everybody in showbiz and the entertainment world did not take home an award.

I think Jimmy Fallon was awesome. A lot of excitement filled the air. My main critique is where was the music? They could have used more of the music scores. What do you think? Who had the best smile? Who wore the best dress?

We are reentering Supergirl season 2 and it's safe to say Melissa Benoist is still super. I began binge watching Supergirl this week. And I've concluded that Melissa Benoist was put on earth to become Kara Zor-El on television. How does she do it, episode after episode? She's absolutely incredible.

You can see the determination in her eyes. Melissa Benoist seeks glory as Supergirl. She belongs in the DC Comics. It is her destiny. No doubt Henry Cavill aka Superman is impressed by the former Glee star. Don't forget that she is a multi-talented celebrity.

The triple threat actress is best suited and well-equipped. In other words, Benoist is up for the challenge at hand. So prepare yourself for a wild ride. She'll flap her cape around and fly you high like a Boeing 777. Melissa is reaching new heights by the second.

It's amazing watching Melissa in action. Whatever she touches turns to gold. I'm looking forward to her future movies. Moreover, the Hollywood star deserves a pay raise.

She's in a similar position as Hilary Duff. All she needs is one big blockbuster or an Academy Award, and she's set for life. Supergirl has a shelf-life, but Melissa Benoist's name can go down in history.

Benoist digs deep down into the heart and soul of a character. You should check out her performance in Whiplash. Not only does she play a wonderful supporting actress, she's a terrific love interest.

Maybe, Supergirl could play Batman's lover now that the Batman v. Superman saga is completed. How's that for a script? Superman and Batman end up as brother-in-laws. You get my drift (they're family). Unfortunately, the likely ending scenario is like Scarface. Do you remember the scene when Al Pacino's character Tony Montana discovered his sister Gina in lingerie at his best friend's home? They had recently got married. That's a story for another day.

Anyway, I say all this to say Melissa Benoist is absolutely incredible.

After seeing the trailer for XXX: Return of Xander Cage I'm excited for the new year of movies. Vin Diesel has definitely took his precious time creating art and preparing for this role. I fully expect him to deliver a jaw dropping performance as Xander Cage. Aren't you going to appreciate every minute?

Vin Diesel does an excellent job reprising roles. For instance, the Fast and Furious franchise is built around Vin Diesel's Dom character. You see the actor has an impressive filmography beyond the action genre. Now, I'm not saying he's Morgan Freeman but he is the quintessential actor.

His performance in Babylon A D was one for the ages (no pun intended). Have you seen the Last Witch Hunter? The movie is unlike anything else Vin Diesel has done. And who can forget about Furious 7? When it was all said and done, Furious 7 grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office.

His signature style and iconic look play a distinct part in his appeal. On the one hand, there's something calm and soothing about the Hollywood star. On the other hand, there's something exhilarating and breathtaking about him. Plus, Vin Diesel executes assignments and takes on an amazing approach.

Did you know he is the most liked actor on Facebook? That's right. Vin Diesel has amassed over 100 million fans.

Clearly, he has a genuine personality off camera or the fans wouldn't love him so much. Vin Diesel is a likable guy. Can you picture playing on his basketball or volleyball team? The 6'0” celebrity appears to have a perfect body for sports. Let's go golfing with the celebrity.

If you want to laugh your ass off, then watch Why Him?. It is a must-see comedy movie. But let me warn you about the vulgar language. Goodie-twoshoes should stay away because James Franco curses up a storm. Nevertheless, the movie lives up to the hype.

Why Him? is about a smalltown girl named Stephanie from Michigan (played by Zoey Deutch) who falls in love with a wealthy wild California computer guy (played by James Franco), while she attends Stanford. Her parents have no idea who she's dating. All they know is that Christmas will be spent in California because their daughter invited them. And boy, does this young man have plans for their daughter.

James Franco plays the lead role (Laird). Laird isn't your stereotypical computer genius. He loves making video games and he loves making love. Laird lives in a mansion with a gatehouse. Buffalos walk around freely on his property. He's a straightarrow and that's why he is misunderstood.

He plans on marrying Stephanie, but he wants permission from her father first. Bryan Cranston plays the role of father (Ned). Cranston puts on a memorable performance. You'll love the climax when Ned finally has had it up to here with Laird.

You see Laird has won over everybody except Ned. First of all, he makes a bad first impression. Secondly, Laird makes a bad second impression. Ned doesn't like the multimillionaire for a variety of reasons. I won't discuss the main reason because I don't want to spoil it for you.

This may be the funniest movie I've seen all year. It is a 5 star comedy. James Franco and Zoey Deutch are a believable couple. You couldn't ask for a more perfect union.

The script was well-written. The acting was phenomenal. I would definitely watch it again. You should see it and laugh your ass off too.

Collateral Beauty starring Will Smithcaptivates the audience. The film takes you on a journey of discovery. You discover the characters one by one and the story is put together piece by piece. You're given all that you need from beginning to end. Not a word is wasted.

Collateral Beauty is about a man (Will Smith) coping with the death of his young daughter. Fortunately, he has built a thriving advertising business. But all the money in the world won't bring his daughter back to life.

To cope with the unthinkable (losing a child), Howard played by Smith writes and mails letters to 3 abstracts: Love, Time, and Death. A private investigator opens them and reveals the details to his colleagues. Howard is effectively ambushed by his colleagues who stage an intervention to question his competency.

The plot involves subplots such as a woman's biological clock, a man's fight with cancer, and a father's bond with his daughter. Actors literally play a key role in the movie, because the colleagues hire actors to play Love, Time, and Death. The movie has many twists and turns. I guarantee you'll love it.

Will Smith delivers a powerful performance. His part alone makes the movie an eye opening experience. Give credit to amazing direction and incredible cinematography. No doubt the screenwriting is brilliant. Overall, I give the movie an A.

Plus, the movie showcases a dynamic cast. Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, and Michael Pena were excellent additions. Let's not forget about Keira Knightley, who never looks a day over 25. They say she always gets her beauty sleep.

Collateral Beauty is about recognizing Death and staring her in the face. Accept the things you can't change. And change what you can. What is more, come to grips that death is a natural part of life. Live your life abudantly, so that you can die peacefully. In the event, something unexpected happens, realize the collateral beauty.

Bringing Spice Girls Back Into Our Lives

It's an emergency. We're in the E.R. Room right now. Guru Jay is about to resuscitate the Spice girls. Call it a reunion if you will.

I know what I'm doing. I spent time studying under the best doctors, although I don't have a medical degree; I'm a Guru damn it. I'm the greatest one you know in fact. I've mediated to the music of Dr. Dre. I'm sure you seen some of my Tweets #GuruJay.

Let's not digress from the matter at hand. I've got lives to save. I'll start with Mel B (Scary Spice) first because she's a judge on America's Got Talent; and you know, I scout talent with an eagle eye .

Mel B has 1.06 million Twitter followers, along with 265,000 Facebook likes. She's made a name for herself ever since the Spice Girls broke up in early 2000. Do you follow her on Twitter and like her on Facebook?

Next up is Mel C (Sporty Spice). Did you know she sold over 500,000 copies of her Reason album? She's one of my favorites because her voice melts my heart. Nowadays, the Capricorn is keeping a low profile but I expect this to change pretty soon.

The third Spice girl I will resuscitate is Emma Bunton (Baby Spice). I think she's a wonderful actress. Emma delivers amazing performances in some of Bollywood's best movies. You should check them out. Moreover, she has the voice for radio and the face for TV. She has hosted the Saturday Show since 2009. Plus Emma presents Breakfast with Jamie Theakston.

Fourth is Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice). She's enjoying the Spice of her life- Christian Horner. They married in 2015.

Last but not least, I will resuscitate Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice). Can you believe she's still married to David Beckham? She's built a name as a major fashion designer.

Now that they're all resuscitated they can go on their reunion tour.

Why Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Is On Top Of The World

2016 has been a great year for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson so far. According to Forbes, he is the highest paid actor- racking in a grand total of $64.5 million. It sounds like he hit the jackpot, doesn't it? Plus, People magazine named him Sexiest Man Alive.

Right now, The Rock is on top of the world. His new movie Moana hits theaters on November 23^rd. Credit his “old” movie San Andreas for bringing home most of the bacon last year. Without a doubt, Dwayne Johnson shakes things up whenever possible and slices matters with his muscles for an added bonus.

He's capable of starring in action, drama, and comedy. Action movie Furious 7 is one of my favorite films. Rest in peace Paul Walker. His chemistry with Vin Diesel is amazing. Who remembers the dramatic Gridiron Gang featuring Xzibit? Have you seen the very funny Central Intelligence?

Dwayne Johnson has a long road behind and in front of him. He's come a long way since his World Wrestling Entertainment days. On a side note, who could forget: If you smell what the Rock is cooking? What is more, the 44 year old is only scratching the surface of his potential greatness.

I highly recommend watching Hercules. Hercules showcases The Rock's strengths, literally. Indeed, the celebrity is physically fit but let's not forget his acting strength as well. It takes a certain degree of skill in order to consistently score big and win fans over at the box office.

Maybe, 2017 may be an even better year for Dwayne Johnson than 2016. Fast 8, Baywatch, and Jumanji are highly anticipated movies debuting next year. I hope you stick around for more fun at Guru Jay. Music makes the world go 'round. Hear what I'm saying, now. Everything can potentially become music to your ears. The way she speaks to you in that special tone is music. The way our car engine rumbles is music.

Guru Jay thinks he has figured out the world. Let me elaborate some more. Let's start the show!

Today's blog is all about music and greatness. Who is the greatest music artist? Maybe, Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Prince in that order.

A better question is who's music makes the world go 'round the most. I feel that's a difficult question to answer because first of all what defines the world? Are we living under the same sun but in two different worlds?

I've climbed a different mountain than you. I've seen Hollywood stars through a different set of lens. Did you know I wear glasses? Not prescription but sunglasses because I'm cool. And you ladies and gents are the coolest fans on the Planet Earth. I know I've got some cool fans on Mars by now. Shout out to Elon Musk and Google.

Maybe, nobody can be better than Elvis. In total, Elvis sold approximately 1 billion records. So it's safe to say if alive he would be a billionaire. What is more, he has nearly 1 billion fans. It seems like there a billion Presley impersonators. Plus,the Blue Suede shoe salesman leads a quarter million Twitter followers.

Amy Winehouse was England's Janis Joplin. Without question, Amy is singing with the angels now. Winehouse and Joplin may very well be recording duets produced by Saint Peter himself.

The legendary songstress established a legacy of greatness. This celebrity was one of a kind in a full house of Hollywood stars. You see the spotlight shined on her everyday. Also, no one can question her amazing abilities.

I highly recommend Amy (2015) because the documentary film showcases the entertainer's originality. You'll like how the music artist became unique. Plus, you'll appreciate her vocals much better after seeing this expert performer go to work.

At her peak, she wasn't more popular than Britney Spears; but that didn't matter. All that matters is the music she gave to the world. And the music she gave was a life of empathy and kindness.

In a sense, Amy's name is synonymous with music. Scratch that. Amy means music in every language!Plus, like Lady Gaga the young lady was fearless and she made bold moves.

Winehouse passionately crooned. Maybe, she was best known for Back to Black or back to Rehab. So the story goes...In her own words to paraphrase a bit “Yes I been black but when I come back...they tried to make me go to rehab. I won't go.” She said NO NO to celebrity rehab.

What Chuck Berry is to Rock and Roll, what Bono is to U2, Amy Winehouse was to Neo Soul. She developed new sounds in the studio booth and on the concert stage. Who can deny Amy Winehouse her legendary status? She rightfully claimed her throne in England like Janis did in America.

In a nutshell, Amy meant the world to the music industry because she pioneered a creative sound. Her vocal chords stretch toward the heavens. It is my honor and privilege to write this tribute to a great soul.

Keeping Up with the Joneses Movie Review

Where's Guru Jay been you say? I was on vacation because everybody is entitled to a break. Thank you for giving me one.

Well do I have a blog for you today or what. This is my Keeping Up with the Joneses movie review. For starters,I feel the writing is phenomenal.

It's like a full course meal in every way. Zach Galifianakis performs above expectation. And that guy...ahem from Mad Men Jon Hamm delivers the good and services on a silver platter.

You must love the cool soundtrack. I sure do. Here's a movie about change. We all go through changes. I had to change a tire the other day.

Plus, it is a movie filled with laughter from start to finish. The comedy is absurd at times. You'll love rich scenes and suspenseful moments. I thoroughly enjoy the plot, especially the tongue teaser. There are Snakes BUT not on a plane.

To put things in perspective, I saw it today. Yes the day of the World Series. If you've been following my Twitter @IamGuruJay you know I love baseball by now.

Anyway, the movie stars shine bright lights. The acting is great. Overall, I liked my day at the theaters. There were many thespians there in my audience.

And it's the audience's response that makes a movie or a blog or a website fantastic. While I'm on the word fantastic, the director did a fantastic job. And the producers made the most out of their budget.

If you want to see a crowd-pleaser, then Keeping Up with the Joneses is your movie. After careful consideration, I give the film editing an A-. It is truly excellent entertainment. There are bad actors and some I assume good.

This is well executed and lively. Here's something I would watch with my family for a second time. Give it three stars out of five.

Rotten Tomatoes got it wrong. Keeping Up with the Joneses should make $100 million in a fair world. Will it make it that far? I don't have an answer for you. I'm only a Guru,who knows one thing and one thing only and that is...question everything.

Someone is walking into the tallest building downtown and he's creating a scene. It appears there's a blonde woman with him. What's that? The woman is a badass like Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. Plus, she's comparable to Reese Witherspoon.

Oh, it's O.K. That someone happens to own a magazine. And that woman he's with is none other than the one and only Cameron Diaz. Every now and then, people require imagery like this as much as their thirst for water.

Moreover, milk does the body good. If there's a lady who's all that it's Cameron Diaz. Cameron's body of work reminds you of Sofia Vergara because like Sofia it's hot. Although she's not technically a comedienne, Cameron cracks you up in movies such as Bad Teacher. Maybe, the Hollywood actress could be casted in the Hot Pursuit sequel.

For what it's worth, Cameron Diaz doesn't look a day over 36. I guess Ben Stiller was right. There's something about Mary foreal. Diaz even wrote a book spilling her perfect body secrets.

Also, there's no business like showbiz. This actor shows how hard work pays off over time. According to sources, her networth is about $140 million. In other words, Cameron Diaz doesn't have to work anymore.

How do you calculate the entertainment value of this celebrity? Where do I begin? Cameron is energetic and fantastic. Plus, she is a people person and maybe a people pleaser.

It's always a joy seeing Cameron Diaz smile. She's so sweet. Only Julia Roberts has a sweeter smile.

Who thinks they should do Charlie's Angels one more time? I think Diaz would do it.

We love Cameron Diaz for the same reason we love Jennifer Aniston. She is like a Friend. Do you get it? I'll wait for that to sink in.

Kristen Bell: From House of Lies to the Good Place

Celebrity vegan Kristen Bell is in the news because her new show the Good Place is a hit. I expect this program to be around for at least three years. It has all the right elements to succeed. Doesn't everybody love Ted Danson as well? Or maybe, that's Raymond but Cheers to Ted.

You get my drift. If Anna Fariscarved her career path out with a machete, Kristen Bell made waves with a surfboard. Many men fantasize about getting CPR from this hot Lifeguard lead actress.

It appears Kristen Bell is done with lying on the House of Lies but she's still in the house. I watched the first two episodes of the Good Place and I'm impressed. I'm not won over easily. You have to go the extra mile and knock it out the park with me. Having high standards is rare.

Have you noticed how much the celebrity contributes to original entertainment in various ways? She's a staple on TV from Showtime to NBC. Plus, her Hollywood pictures perform big numbers at the box office. Don't forget the actor's doing voiceovers in movies such as Frozen too.

Excluding Frozen, what is your favorite Bell movie? Some of my favorites include: the Boss, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and You Again.

You see Kristen Bell stands at 5'1” but she's really 6'2” on Twitter. Because being a celebrity adds 1 foot to your height, she's one of the tallest women in the world. Take Tom Cruise for instance. How tall do you think he is? Tom Cruiseis actually a giant.

I am having fun here. Right now, the blonde actress has a full plate and can retire when she gets ready. Remember it's never too late to become famous. Many people in the entertainment business get off to a late start. Everybody can't reach stardom as quick as the one and only Kristen Bell.

Are You Addicted to Power TV?

My brother first told me about the Power TV show on Starz back in 2014. Now, my sister watches it and everybody in my circle does so too. For what it's worth, I've watched every episode in every season; and, I can attest to the TV show's exceptional quality.

I think anybody concerned with gaining street knowledge should watch Power because there are morals to their stories. Although Tommy should be idolized, you do realize that he's going to end up in a body-bag eventually? Also, you might as well conclude that Ghost is dead already since everybody has took a stab at killing him since season 1. There's clearly a plot to kill.

But James St. Patrick is strong. He won't die. Remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Omari Hardwick's character is fundamentally fit to be a drug kingpin for years to come. And dying right now is bad for business, specifically the marketing department.

It's the characters that give life to the story. Who's your favorite character? Isn't Omari Hardwick the best actor? And Joseph Sikora is the shit too. But my favorite character is SPOILER ALERT... Lobos (sorry to see you go.)

I like Lobos aka Jefe (translated as Boss in Spanish) the best because he did the least amount of work and reaped the most amount of money. While everybody was doing the dirty work, Lobos kept his hands and feet manicured and pedicured, respectively. They feared and respected him the most.

The writers room on Power come up with incredible ideas. The writers don't stop developing their story lines. There is always something unexpected in the script. Moreover, the directors and producers take their time positioning key players and putting key pieces in place. I love creator Courtney A. Kemp.

Finally, the music contributes significantly to Power's greatness. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson created a few good songs for the show. Big Rich Town and I'm the Man are on my playlist right now.

Are you addicted to the TV show? It is a superior product for certain. Everything about Power is excellent.
